Atheism
Atheism is the disbelief of a god, gods, or other supernatural beings. Atheism is considered a Religion despite not fitting required criteria and is protected under the American constitution's Freedom of Religion. This has caused some debates over religion and free will. Meanwhile in China, Atheism is being promoted and other religions are being repressed. Why is the conflict between Atheism and other religions so powerful and why does China want to promote Atheism?
Social Studies
For Social Studies, after finding out that China is basically a 50% atheist country, I went searching to see why China is mostly Atheist. I then learned that they are actively promoting it and degrading other Religious beliefs. When I was done researching, the answer was very clear. Why was China promoting Atheism? Because a lack of a supernatural being means people run to the government for guidance. It gives them power. I wrote a essay arguing that China is using Atheism as a way to gain power, control their people, and to fight against Western foes.
Art
For Art, I knew I wanted to go down a different route then the normal kind of art you'd think of, and it needed to be a good representation of how religions and Atheism are perceived. I figured that a short film or a skit would be perfect because in order to show what religion looks like, you need to see the religious people in action. Of course, the religions are over exaggerated and this skit was shot in a small period of time due to time and the schedules of my friends, who are my actors, sacrificing comedy to answer why Atheism is conflicting with other religions. --> Film
English
When brainstorming a product for english, the idea of a short film was fresh in my mind, and any film needs a script for its actors to read from. For my english project, I wrote the script for the short film, which not only puts my thoughts in written form, but also is needed for my actors. I had to write in a way that conveyed a message and show why Atheism is conflicting with other religions, which was a difficult task. Also, to keep the film within the time frame of 3-6 minutes, many events had to either be simplified or just straight up cut in the final product.
